The Prince Henry Hospital Trained Nurses Association (PHHTNA) was formed on 9th November 1960; members are all nurses who graduated from The Coast and The Prince Henry Hospital. The main objective of the PHHTNA is to promote the interests of the hospital and the nursing profession. Lady Helen Cutler, the wife of the Governor of NSW Sir Arthur “Roden” Cutler, was the first Patron of the Association.

On 13th September, 1962, the PHHTNA undertook the task of raising funds to build an interdenominational chapel, known as The Coast Chapel. The building was designed by the architects, Messrs. N. W. McPherson, D. A. Harrison and K. A. Hassall; and built by Brice Mutton and Sons.

Upon completion the chapel was dedicated as an Australian Nurses War Memorial and is a lasting tribute to the services rendered by Australian nursing sisters in time of war. The Coast Chapel is listed in the War Memorial Register of NSW.

The Association presented the chapel to The Prince Henry Hospital for the use of all people connected with the hospital, including staff, patients and relatives. Since the closure of the hospital The Coast Chapel has been protected as part of the Heritage listing for the Prince Henry Precinct and is available for hire to all members of the public for appropriate religious ceremonies.

The new audio-visual system in the Chapel is operated through a laptop directly or via USB.  The system plays through new pendant speakers offering a crisp, even sound throughout the Chapel. There are two screens and a state of the art camera enabling services to be recorded or live-streamed when necessary.

The Coast Chapel at Little Bay is available to hire for Christenings, baptisms and baby naming ceremonies, weddings, funerals and memorial ceremonies, and as a filming location for commercials, drama and corporate videos.

The Chapel supports online-streaming for all services.
